Thank you to the thousands of individuals -- and their clubs, troops, schools, and businesses -- who made this year's event a success! We couldn't do it without you!

Who was out there cleaning the river this year?

As soon as we have the Cleanup Tallies from all the participants we will post the grand totals here.

Cleanup Sponsors: generosity reaching river communities

You can’t run New England’s largest volunteer river cleanup without help, and help for the 12th annual Connecticut River Watershed Council Source to Sea Cleanup NRG Logohas been timely and generous.   Most generously NRG Middletown Power LLC stepped forward in August to take on title sponsorship of this 2,000-plus volunteer event.  NRG has been a long-time supporter of the Cleanup, offering financial assistance over the years, plus generous on-the-ground volunteer work done by NRG’s Bob Spooner and crew.  They’ve been clearing debris at Dart Island State Park in Connecticut since 2002.

Other major supporters have again generously stepped forward.  Our four-state Cleanup would be much harder to execute without the assistance of Northeast Utilities Transmission—a company that has been on board with the Source to Sea Cleanup for many years.  Also resupplying the October 4th event with needed fuel is Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) in Connecticut, who we’ve partnered with on this and other projects before.  And, new this year, Cheshire, CT-based Lane Construction Corporation has joined our watershed wide community effort to clear debris and tires from regional riverbanks.  Welcome Lane!  Further north in Source to Sea territory, TransCanada has come forward to help make our river cleanup successful.  TransCanada’s Ken Alton, a CRWC Board member, has assisted us with this massive project before.

Emptying the Sky - Wm HaysOn a slightly different note, the Watershed Council wants to acknowledge the generous donation of original Connecticut River artwork by Brattleboro, VT, artist William Hays. His oil on canvas landscape "Emptying the Sky" is again being used for all of our Source to Sea posters.

We are deeply appreciative of the help from these, and the many other sponsors and donors that have stepped forward.  Their support will help ensure that the thousands of volunteers from scores of communities in the four watershed states will be able to do this important work and enjoy their experience.  Thank you, sponsors, donors and volunteers all!
